EXPLORE THE STORY BEHIND
GERGEI ERDEI is a London-based artist and designer and the founder of his eponymous homeware brand.
Erdei’s fascination for art, fashion and architecture led him to set up his design studio to focus on illustration, handcrafted ceramics, fabrics, and other decorative accessories, among bespoke design services for individual clients.
He strives to create an accessible brand that speaks a different language and celebrates the past but transforms it into the present through every day objects. While Erdei designs for the present he aims to support small heritage manufactories to keep alive the beauty of hand crafted production and the real know-how techniques.
Gergei belives that from morning to night objects make a huge effect on our day and mind.
" Even a simple takeaway meal can feel celebratory and grand if I have it from the right dinnerware and takes only a second to give yourself this soul-lifting moment. So many things make us stressed these days and I think we all deserve small treats to get through everything - this can be as easy as having your meal from a beautifully painted dinner plate "
His bold yet sophisticated style, inspired by the world of antiquities, brought him to the creative office of Gucci in Rome. Whilst there he worked in the Womenswear design team of Alessandro Michele as a Ready to Wear Designer and later as an Embroidery Designer and Illustrator, where his refined drawings adorned prints, jacquard knits and embroideries in recent Gucci collections.
Since launching the brand in 2019, Gergei Erdei has designed exclusive capsule collections for the likes of Matches Fashion, SelfridGes and The Conran Shop, all of which carry the designer’s work.
