As part of a new series of paintings, this work portrays The god Apollo who fell in love with Daphne and chased her against her wishes, but before he caught her, Daphne prayed for escape, and was transformed into a laurel tree.
Geometric forms and abstract laurel foliage are arranged into a composition that feels both balanced and subtly asymmetrical, echoing the tension between movement and stillness. Drawing inspiration from the softened palette of ancient frescoes, the painting is built from thin, translucent layers of color, whose delicate tones dissolve into a poetic, gently blurred atmosphere.
