As part of a new series of paintings, this work depicts Ariadne accompanied by a leopard, a symbol drawn from her mythological union with Dionysus. Abandoned on the island of Naxos after aiding Theseus, Ariadne’s story is one of loss transformed into renewal. Discovered by Dionysus, she is elevated from mortal sorrow into divine presence, her figure becoming synonymous with rebirth, devotion, and quiet power.
Drawing inspiration from the softened palette of ancient frescoes, the painting is composed of thin, translucent layers of coloUr. These delicate hues merge into a poetic, blurred atmosphere, creating a sense of timeless suspension. The leopard, both guardian and emblem of Dionysian energy, introduces a gentle tension between wildness and serenity.
